Sixth-graders from Rosspint and Wallins elementary schools toured Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College on Monday in a trip sponsored by Gear Up, one of several the group sponsors each year to colleges.

Kim Maynard and Shana Lewis met with all the students upon their arrival at the Godbey Theatre and described what they could expect in college and offered suggestions on helping pick their future school, including visiting classes once they are enrolled in high school.

Students were split into four groups and toured several parts of the college, including nursing with Scott Blanton, theater with Lewis, chemistry with Dr. Wheeler Conover and dual credit with Maynard. Students were then treated to dinner in the grill area at the college.
