30 years for PT Pros

For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future”. — Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

These are the words that the PT Pros Harlan Clinic (then known as Kentucky Physical Therapy) was founded on 30 years ago. Since 1987, the clinic has provided treatment for injuries and musculoskeletal pain to the people of Harlan County and its surrounding counties.

The clinic’s very first patient was an injured worker, prompting the company to come alongside local industry to do groundbreaking work in Kentucky. Partnering with the state’s Workmen’s Compensation Commissioner and local coal industry, PT Pros has analyzed work situations and identified dangerous and injury prone areas. From the beginning, the company’s goals were (and still are) to protect workers and to help all workers get the best orthopedic medical care possible to allow them to recover and return to optimal work.

PT Pros is on the front lines of helping Harlan Countians conquer pain and injury through exercise, manual physical therapy, and a positive attitude of wellness. Through its services, the clinic has worked to prevent re-injury, to limit long-term use of narcotics, and to help patients age well.

Since 1987, PT Pros has worked with athletes of all ages in treatment of injuries as well as prevention through traditional physical therapy, educational stretching programs, and weight training. The clinic has provided free screening services to help coaches and families take care of their children as they mature, both emotionally and physically, by playing sports safely. Through these services, the staff has helped many youth grow into life-long habits of exercise and strengthening.

“Our greatest privilege has been treating multiple generations of families in eastern Kentucky in the areas of primary care and orthopedic neurological physical therapy, treating newborns to centenarians”, said clinic founder and physical therapist Holly Johnson. “Our mission has been to improve the lives of everyone we touch with comprehensive, cutting edge physical therapy in a compassionate and encouraging clinic environment.”

PT Pros invites the community to its 30th anniversary celebration on Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the PT Pros Harlan Clinic.

“On behalf of our staff, we thank you for allowing us to treat thousands of Harlan Countians over the past thirty years”, Johnson continued. “We are committed to many more years of service to the county. We love helping our friends and neighbors become and remain healthy, giving them a future and a hope as promised in Jeremiah 29:11. Our God is so faithful.”
