Ladies meeting held at church

The Loyall United Methodist Women met on Aug. 28 at the home of Edwina Hudson. Sue Estep opened the meeting with prayer.

Barbara Wills called the meeting to order. George Ann Lovely read the minutes and gave the treasurer’s report from the July meeting.

In the business meeting, the women discussed meals that are served on the third Thursday in conjunction with Christ’s Hands.

The items for the Ann Heck Food Pantry at the Harlan Methodist Church for September are: Sugar, flour, pancake mix and syrup.

A letter was shared thanking the women’s group for the monthly support of the Ann Heck Food Pantry. It was from Steven Riddle, pastor of the Harlan Methodist Church.

Women also discussed upcoming events including the fall district meeting at First United Methodist Church in London, and possible dates for the Loyall UMW retreat.

Women also discussed purchasing toys for the Mike Howard Santa Mission. Jennifer Moody made a motion for the women to bring toys to the next three meetings. Audrey Saylor seconded that motion and it passed.

George Ann Lovely had the devotion entitled “Time to Praise” based on Psalm 92.

Refreshments were served to Barbara Wills, Kathy White, Brenda Sullivan, George Ann Lovely, Johnnie Hagy, Audrey Saylor, Jennifer Moody, Sue Estep, Beverly White and hostess Edwina Hudson.

The next monthly meeting will be held on Sept. 25 at the Loyall United Methodist Church in the fellowship hall at 6 p.m. The program will be presented by Carla Hammons and Audrey Saylor.
