Lady Dragons suffer two 1-point overtime losses

Harlan suffered a pair of one-point losses in overtime to visiting Williamsburg in middle school basketball action Thursday.

Williamsburg won 26-25 in the seventh- and eighth-grade game. Peighton Jones led the Lady Dragons with 15 points.

The Lady Jackets won 23-22 in the fifth- and sixth-grade game on a putback basket with 2.4 seconds left in overtime.

Meg Brock scored eight points to lead the Lady Dragons.

Harlan plays host to Barbourville on Monday and Evarts on Thursday to close the regular season.

Lady Cats remain unbeaten with victory over Green Hills

Evarts ran its record to 7-0 with a 35-21 win Thursday over visiting Green Hills in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action.

Jaylin Smith led the Lady Cats with 21 points.

Serenity Whitehead paced the Lady Falcons with 10 points.

Ashley Preston scored 11 points as Evarts (5-3) won 35-5 in the fifth- and sixth-grade game.

The Lady Cats won 7-0 in a fourth-grade game.

Evarts will play host to Cumberland on Monday. Green Hills plays at James A. Cawood on Monday.

Hanna Pace and Isabell Kirby each scored 12 points as visiting Black Mountain (3-2) won 29-16 on Tuesday at Wallins in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action.

Taytum Grffin led Wallins (3-2) with 12 points.

Led by 16 points from Faith Caldwell, Wallins won 22-4 in the fifth- and sixth-grade game.

Black Mountain won 6-4 in the fourth-grade game.

Black Mountain returns to action Saturday in a tournament at Bell Central. Wallins plays at Cawood on Tuesday.
