Lady Dragons fall in state All ‘A’

The Harlan Lady Dragons ran into some tough competition over the weekend in Florence at the state All “A” Classic. The Lady Dragons lost three matches in pool play, falling 25-12, 25-6 to Caldwell County, 25-7, 25-11 to Bardstown and 25-8, 25-7 to Walton-Verona. Harlan lost 25-11, 25-14 to Whitesville Trinity in tournament action.

Haven Saylor led the Lady Dragons against Bardstown with three digs and one ace. AnnMarie Bianchi had three digs and one block. Alyssa Moses added four digs. Mady Haynes had two digs. Taylor Simpson and Madison Middleton added one block and one dig each. Hannah Jones and Emily Sizemore each contributed one dig.

Middleton led Harlan against Caldwell County with four blocks, one dig, one kill and one ace. Moses had three digs and one ace. Bianchi added two blocks, one dig and one kill. Brandi Haywood had two blocks. Simpson added one dig and one block. Ai-yana Harriston had one dig.

Bianchi led Harlan against Whitesville Trinity with six digs and one assist. Simpson had five digs and one block. Moses added three aces and three digs. Haywood had two digs, one block, one assist and two kills. Middleton contributed five digs and one kill. Saylor had one ace, one dig and one assist. Harriston had one ace and one dig.

Saylor had five digs against Walton-Verona. Moses added four digs and one ace. Bianchi and Simpson each contributed two digs. Middleton had one dig and one ace. Harrison added one dig. Haywood had one block.

Harlan (10-12) travels to Middlesboro on Tuesday to close its district schedule.
